Owner/Maker at Indigo Leatherworks

Sonia Munro-Peebles

Sonia’s Approach

Indigo Leatherworks was born from a desire to give retired leather tack a second life. Each piece Sonia creates—whether a crossbody bag, wallet, key fob, or custom design—is crafted from well-worn saddles, bridles, and harnesses that once carried stories of partnership, competition, and quiet moments in the barn aisle. By transforming this leather into something functional and lasting, I hope to preserve those stories while creating new ones.

Her process blends traditional leather working techniques with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and sustainability. Every cut, stitch, and finish is done by hand in small batches, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same. She names each bag after horses from her farm, weaving personal history into every collection.

Indigo Leatherworks is more than a brand—it’s a way to honour the past, create intentionally, and carry a piece of tradition forward into everyday life.
